Loving This Way of Life
RV life has become the single best decision we have made together. We've seen our relationship grow in new ways and our family has benefited from moving into the RV. While adapting to the new way of life was difficult at first but by looking at things in a new perspective it really has been amazing for us.
Save money
In our situation, moving into the RV is saving us money. Paying for the RV and spot rent is much cheaper than any rent we could find especially with having 4 dogs. Unfortunately, owning a house was out of the question due to the extremely high market and the fact that the military will send us to a new station in just a few years.
Ability to keep our dogs
I know this may sound silly to some, but the major driving motive behind moving into our RV were are beloved golden retrievers. When looking at renting a house or even looking at base housing it was basically not an option to have more than 2 pets if any. Neither my husband or I could bear the thought of parting with any of our dogs. So you could say we ultimately moved into an RV for our dogs.
More time outside
Spending more time outside exercising and enjoying fresh air has been very good for all of us. Soaking up more sun and walking have both been very beneficial health-wise. Being able to eat dinner and watch the sunset has been one of my favorite things since moving into the RV. We have also found ourselves taking a lot more interest in hiking, biking, and other outdoor activities that we hadn't done much before.
Smaller Space to clean
While downsizing was hard, downsizing the space to clean definitely wasn't hard. When it comes to cleaning I know I for one hated spending hours cleaning an entire house. In the RV it's cut down to about an hour (yes, even in a 45ft). We are able to dust, clean bathrooms, vacuum, and mop the whole RV in about an hour. This leaves us so much more time to do other things we want to do. The smaller space also makes it easier to clean up after everyday little messes.
Freedom of Moving with the Comforts of Home
Imagine being able to just move your entire house anywhere you want to go. That's exactly what we are now able to do! We just pack up a few items we keep outside, put the dogs and kid in the vehicles, and take off wherever we want or need to be.
Recently, with being in South Georgia we had to evacuate our campsite due to a hurricane having the possibility of hitting where we were. Luckily it was as easy as deciding where we wanted to move our RV to and then calling for a spot. We were able to have everything we wanted and needed with us without packing bags or worrying about leaving something behind.
Constant Learning
Living in an RV there are endless opportunities to learn new things. Whether that be about the nature around you or even new things from fellow campers. We have met many very nice fellow full timers who offer up a wealth of knowledge on parks to visit, things to buy, stuff to see, etc.
On our phones we have found apps to help us identify birds we've seen on hikes around the campground. This app provides all sorts of information on the birds and has been lots of fun collecting the birds we've seen! This truly excites us for when our son gets older. We cannot wait to be able to teach him more out in the world.
All in all, RV life has been a huge life decision that our family has benefited from. We really hope we are able to help others who are considering this way of life. While not always easy it's definitely rewarding. We invite you to continue to follow us on this amazing adventure!
